Describing the Church Building
When the Lloyd-Thomas Co. appraised this building in 1944 they described it as being “rock face stone and brick”, the size regular 79 by 119 feet, six bays wide and eight bays long. “The height was basement, one story, balcony and attic. The foundation was rubble stone, the roof double pitch, hipped, slate with wood lining…” The same company in 1980 placed value of the east (Resurrection) window at $10,360; the south (Rosette) with a diameter of 192 inches at $36,000; and the west (Woman at the Well) at $11,400. The east and west windows were described as triple mullion of hand-painted art and stained glass, set in leaded munitions.
For visitors and members alike, however, the real value is the beauty and symbolism that has enhanced their worship in the church for a hundred years.
