It includes staff days off, meetings and the other many activites within the church. After you are finished looking at the calender, simply close the browser window to return to this site.

First Edition newsletters
First Edition is distributed to more than 800 homes of members and constituents of First United Methodist Church. It is distributed biweekly in the summer months and weekly during the rest of the year via US Mail or as an Email attachment. If you have an item for First Edition or wish to change your distribution, contact Angie Mason, FUMC Communications Coordinator at angie-mason@icfirstchurch.org.

Events on the horizon for FUMC
ITS TIME! ITS TIME! RALLY DAY IS NEARLY HERE! On September 7th from 9:00 a.m. to Noon, we will celebrate the start-up of our fall program. Come learn about all the Faith Formation (formerly known as Sunday School) opportunities for you and your family. Highlights of the morning will be: a coffee and pastry bar, Air Hockey and Foosball Tournaments for youth, games for children, a surprise guest, and popcorn and cotton candy for all. Don’t be shy! You’re ALL invited!
FLOOD RECOVERY AND CLEAN-UP: If you would like to be a volunteer in the on-going flood recovery work, please contact the United Way of Johnson county which is matching volunteers with the work needed to be done. The number to reach the Volunteer Center is 319-337-VOLS (319-337-8657).
DONATIONS TO The Habitat for Humanity House Bank are most welcome. Dropping your loose change (and folding money) into the House Bank will help to make a change for people in need of simple, decent, affordable housing.
@ THE WESLEY CENTER: A free Ice Cream party to welcome back U of I students will be held today from 3 to 5 p.m. at the Wesley Foundation building, 210 N. Dubuque Street. Also, Wednesday Worship will resume @ the Center on August 27th, beginning @ 9:00 p.m. All are welcome to attend.
THE CHANCEL CHOIR will start their weekly rehearsals (7-8:30p.m.) this Wednesday, August 27th. Interested singers are invited to join with us, please contact Samuel Kwok, Director of Music Ministries at 338-7653 or e-mail him for detailed information.
THE JUBUILATION RINGERS will resume ringing again tomorrow, August 25th, from 5:30 to 7:00 p.m. Please contact Samuel Kwok if you would be interested in playing.
THE SANCTUARY BAND welcomes singers and players to join us. This band is to provide vocal and instrumental music leadership for the Sanctuary Alternative Worship Service every Sunday. Interested singers and players please contact Samuel Kwok to schedule an audition.
The next meeting of the Senior Affinity Group will be held on Wednesday, September 3rd, from 2 to 4 p.m. at Walden Place. Anyone who considers themselves a senior is warmly invited to attend. If you need more information, please call Sage at 354-5484. Hope to see you there!
