Events on the horizon for FUMC 

ALL MUSIC ENSEMBLES have begun their regular rehearsals for this “Spring Semester.”Rehearsal schedules are posted at all church entrances, the church website and this bulletin.  If you are interested in joining one or more of our music ensembles, please contact Samuel Kwok.

The LENTEN STUDY, The Signs of Lent, continues this Tuesday evening, March 9th, at 6:30 p.m. in the Temple Teachings Room (#204), 2nd Floor of the Education Building.  This is a “Pastor’s Preaching Class” based on our Lenten theme and the scripture texts to be used each Sunday of Lent.   Participants are being invited to join Pastor Paul and Pastor John in exploring the texts for the following Sunday more deeply and to offer ideas for the message to be proclaimed during worship on that day.  Everyone is invited to share in these discussions which continue each Tuesday through March 30th.  Please pick up a devotional guide in the Narthex.

EASTER LILY ORDERS are being taken now through March 22.  Each lily ordered is $15.00.  Ordering envelopes are located at each of the church entryways as well as on the Narthex tables. To order a lily in honor or in memory of a loved one please fill out the ordering form and place your check inside of the envelope (made payable to “First United Methodist Church”).  You may place your completed form in the offering plate on Sunday or drop it by the church office.  The lilies will be displayed for our Easter Sunday services and may be taken home following them.  Those left behind will be taken to our home-bound and nursing home members.

THE SENIOR AFFINITY GROUP will meet on Wednesday, March 10th, from 2 to 4 at Walden Place, with George and Ida Belle Paterson as co-hosts.  All seniors warmly invited!  For more information, please contact Sage at 354-5484 or sage-river@icfirstchurch.org.

ANOTHER DELICIOUS A.S.P. SMORGASBORD will be served next Sunday, March 14 in Fellowship Hall, beginning at 11:30 a.m.  You are invited to share the fun, the fellowship and the food (“You price it; you eat it”) while supporting an important Outreach Ministry of our church.

FAIR TRADE PRODUCTS TABLE: Next Sunday, March 14th, there will be a Fair Trade Products table set up in Fellowship Hall from 9:00 am – noon. Items needed before or after the above date please call Linda Watkins (338-8134) for pick up or delivery. Note: chocolate bars are not shipped between April-September.

FREE LUNCH: We are serving Free Lunch at the Wesley Center, on Tuesday, March 16.  If you would like to help (either by being there to serve or by preparing vegetarian lasagna or contributing green beans or a dessert) call Pastor John at 338-5075.  Please consider helping with this important ministry.
